OFT News and Updates
NYSUT Workshops
For several years NYSUT ran a full-day Saturday conference for Early Career Members (any member in the first 5 years of their employment) dealing with topics of interest or concern to members in the beginning stage of their careers. Basically, we wanted new members to understand the value of union membership by demonstrating the many things our union can do to help them as they learn their craft. While the members who attended found these conferences to be extremely worthwhile, it was difficult to get most members to give up a whole Saturday and attendance was far less than we had hoped for. So, this year we’re trying a new approach. We are running a series of five Zoom workshops (basically the same ones we offered in our Early Career Conferences) on different days during the summer. Members can select any or all of the workshops. We hope by making it easier to attend, more early career members like you will want to participate and more will learn to appreciate the value of union membership.
The attached flyer contains the schedule of Zoom summer workshops, a description of each workshop, and a registration link for each workshop. Please review this flyer and consider attending. |

Making Strides Walk
Thank you to the membership of the OFT!
Along with our representation at the walk, the OFT raised a total of $3062 toward the fight against breast cancer. With over 1,000 teams registered, the OFT is, once again, in the top 10% of all fundraising teams with our largest donation yet. We walk each year to honor the memories of those members we've lost, in celebration of our survivors, and in solidarity for those who are fighting. Thank you to our walkers and all those who so generously donated.
